Presbyond

A suitable treatment for a large proportion of people who suffer from myopia with age.
Although the operation is primarily used to compensate for reading glasses, it can be combined with the treatment for correcting myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism, which is what we do here at Batal Specialist Complex.

?What is Presbyond Surgery

Presbyond Surgery is similar to traditional LASIK procedures and is painless, although the patient may feel some pressure on the eyes at times. The operation takes from five to ten minutes for each eye and about 30 minutes for the entire operation.
The problem that many people face is that it’s hard to obtain clear information about vision correction services before going to an ophthalmologist. Here at the Batal Specialist Complex, we’re filling this gap by offering the latest treatment techniques in our clinics.

Stages of the vision correction process – Presbyond

Before Presbyond surgery we use numbing eye drops and the vision is dark in front of the patient until the operation ends. Once finished, the doctor examines the eye before the patient leaves. After the operation you will feel sensitive to light and your vision will be slightly blurred; this usually lasts between 24 and 48 hours. Your eyes will need special protection for a period of time after the Presbyond operation, for example, you will need to keep your away eye from water for a week and avoid strenuous exercise.

Surgeons here at the Al-Batal Eye Specialist Center will give you drops to maintain eye moisture and prevent infection, and you will return to visit us after a day or two to check on the operation. You will then come to us again after two weeks to make sure the operation is successful.  We are proud to perform the operation on hundreds of patients who told us during regular follow-up how their condition improved so much.

Benefits of refractive surgery

    • Presbyond is a more advanced procedure than LASIK, which is why it gives great results in the long run.
    • It is not a deep surgery like LASIK, but it is done through a small incision in the cornea, which makes it less invasive than other surgeries.
    • In the majority of cases, patients have said they were able to see clearly within 48 hours of the operation, and in some cases, patients tell us that they started reading without glasses on the same day of the operation.

The Lancet medical journal published a study saying that in 2015 there were 217 million people in the world suffering from moderate and severe vision impairment and 188 million suffering from mild vision impairment, but the good news is that 90% of cases of weakness and astigmatism or eye deviation can be treated by continuous follow-up with your ophthalmologist. The other bit of good news is that vision correction operations have developed significantly and we are hearing about modern techniques,  the most successful of which is the precipitation technique — available exclusively at the Batal Specialist Complex.

Complications of poor eyesight

  1. Many people in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Europe and Asia suffer from astigmatism, nearsightedness or farsightedness. Neglecting treatment may lead to lazy eyes, double vision, or cataracts in many cases. The earlier an issue is detected, the better we can diagnose the causes, limit the symptoms, and determine the appropriate vision correction process for the condition.
