Oculoplastic Surgeries

Oculoplastic Surgeries

Our eyes are the place where we look for signs of sincerity and trust and they are also the first place where signs of aging appear. Eye beautification with Botox and fillers, for example, is a short-term savior for sagging skin, wrinkles and reducing signs of aging. However, these days people choose surgical procedures to achieve long-term results and there are several different types of eye surgical procedures.

  • Oculoplastic surgeries
  • Eyebrow lift
  • Wiring the tear duct
  • Tear duct obstruction
  • Opening the lacrimal duct
  • Removal of sagging fatty eyelids
  • Eye bag surgeries

Eyelid surgery is a cosmetic surgery procedure to improve the appearance of the upper or lower eyelids and treat visible signs of aging affecting the eyes and the skin around the eyes, including drooping eyelids and fatty deposits that make the eyes look puffy and saggy, or puffiness and wrinkles under the eyes.

An eyelid lift tightens the skin and muscles of the eyelids, reduces excess fat, and lifts the eyelid skin to make the eyes appear more open. There are a few types of eyelid surgery available depending on the areas you wish to treat. Patients can choose lower eyelid surgery, upper eyelid surgery, or both.

Upper eyelid surgery uses incisions to remove skin and fat before a thin stitch is used to bring the skin together to create a crease in the eyelid. During lower eyelid surgery, the ophthalmologist will make incisions in the lower eyelid, remove excess skin and fat, and then sew the skin back together to create a smoother appearance.

If you’re always looking in the mirror and wondering about the dark circles around your eyes, or you’re constantly bothered by bags  that never go away, we advise speaking to our experts.

If you suffer from these issues and aging is causing a change in the size and shape of your eyes, you are likely to be a good candidate for eyelid surgery.

Patients considering eyelid surgery should be in good physical condition and without any serious eye problems.

When you meet our Oculoplastic docotor at Batal Eye Center, make sure to be clear and realistic with expectations and to inquire about all the details. It is useful to search for pictures of eyelid surgery before and after and provide some examples that show the look you want to the doctor.

It is best to keep in mind, however, that every patient and eyelid surgery is different and results will vary depending on many individual factors.

Through Battal Specialist Center, you can communicate with the best eye plastic surgeon, as well as get good price offers that include anesthesia, operating room facilities, or other related expenses.

Prices can vary depending on the location and years of experience the eye plastic surgeon has. It is always important to take into account other factors along with the cost, such as the doctor’s background, credentials, appropriate communication and understanding of your goals.

The first wrinkles and bags of tears under the eyes can appear already at a young age, since the aging process is mainly determined by genetic predisposition, but factors such as facial expressions and the effect of ultraviolet rays contribute to the aging process, and the fragile and sensitive skin of the eyelids is especially vulnerable to environmental influences.

Lacrimal sacs, which contradict their name, are not filled with tears, but with fatty tissue. They can be referred to for various reasons, and if they appear suddenly and feel a slight firmness, the reason could be lack of sleep and a serious condition such as kidney impairment, in which case you should consult a doctor immediately.

If the lacrimal cysts develop over a longer period and tend to be flaccid, the cause is a weakening of the connective tissue caused by the natural aging process. In this case, it can be assumed that the bags under the eyes will not retract on their own.

Eyelid lift surgery

Eyelid correction is performed for ptosis, sagging of the upper eyelid and the formation of bags under the eyes, usually for aesthetic reasons. In very rare cases, visual field restriction can result in ptosis of the upper eyelid. The extent to which a patient feels affected by these changes is always very individual and should be clarified in consultation with an ophthalmologist.

Tests you must be take before eyelid correction surgery

Since changes in both the upper and lower eyelids are visible to the naked eye, patients are not subjected to diagnostic measures in the traditional sense. However, a preoperative examination is performed by an ophthalmologist.

The ophthalmologist checks the visual acuity and visual field, examines the eye microscopically using a slit lamp, checks the intraocular pressure and if functional disorders of the lacrimal system are detected, eyelid correction is not performed.

An existing blood clotting disorder or use of anticoagulants or analgesics should be clarified with the surgeon prior to the procedure. In addition to an ophthalmological examination and clarification of previous illnesses, a detailed review is necessary.

Where it must be clarified whether the patient’s expectations correspond to a realistic outcome of the surgery, what complications can occur, and how the doctor will act in this.

Eyelid surgery results

The sustainability of an eyelid lift is very individual and in some cases the formation of new wrinkles may make a new procedure necessary after eight to ten years, however in most cases no further surgery will be needed.

Advantages of eye plastic surgery

  • This surgery can make you look fresh and awake, while giving you a more youthful appearance.
  • Upper eyelid surgery that treats excess eyelid skin (and sometimes includes removal of eyelid fat) has a wide variety of beneficial functional outcomes including increased visual field and improved quality of life associated with headaches and vision.
  • Eyelid surgery usually takes less than an hour.
  • It can be performed under local anesthesia along with oral anesthesia to help keep you relaxed so the only pain you will feel during the procedure is from the anesthetic injection.
  • Recovery from eyelid surgery is fairly easy and will not last more than a few days of swelling and occasional bruising.
