PRESBYOND Surgery
PRESBYOND is an advanced vision correction solution designed for people who experience nearsightedness with age-related vision changes (presbyopia). Although the procedure is primarily used to reduce dependence on reading glasses, it can also be combined with treatments for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism—a comprehensive approach offered at Batal Eye Specialty Center
What Is PRESBYOND Surgery?
PRESBYOND surgery is similar to conventional LASIK and is generally painless, although some patients may feel mild pressure on the eyes at times. The procedure typically takes 5 to 10 minutes per eye, and about 30 minutes in total.
One of the challenges many people face is the lack of clear information about vision correction options before visiting an ophthalmologist. At Batal Eye Specialty Center, we aim to bridge this gap by providing clear, reliable information and offering the latest treatment and surgical technologies in our clinics.
Causes of Vision Impairment
Astigmatism
Astigmatism is a common eye condition that causes blurred or distorted vision. Symptoms vary from person to person, and some individuals may not experience any symptoms at all. Common symptoms include difficulty seeing at night, headaches, eye irritation, and eye strain.
Astigmatism can be treated and normal vision restored through prescription lenses or vision correction surgery. With laser vision correction, patients can achieve clear vision, and astigmatism typically does not return after successful treatment.
Nearsightedness (Myopia)
Nearsightedness is one of the common eye conditions seen among patients at Batal Specialized Medical Complex. People with myopia can see nearby objects clearly, but distant objects appear blurry. For example, a person may be able to read clearly but struggle to see road signs or billboards from a distance.
Common symptoms of nearsightedness also include headaches after prolonged visual focus and difficulty seeing at night.
Farsightedness (Hyperopia)
Unlike nearsightedness, people with farsightedness can see distant objects clearly, while near objects appear blurry or distorted. In normal vision, the eye should be able to see both near and far objects clearly.
At Batal Specialized Medical Complex, we provide the most appropriate treatment for each case of vision impairment and clearly explain the available options for correcting refractive errors—ranging from prescription glasses and contact lenses to laser vision correction and PRESBYOND surgery—to ensure optimal visual outcomes tailored to each patient’s needs.
Stages of PRESBYOND Vision Correction Surgery
Before PRESBYOND surgery, anesthetic eye drops are applied, and the patient may experience temporary dim or dark vision until the procedure is completed. Afterward, the ophthalmologist examines the eyes before the patient is allowed to leave.
Following the procedure, patients may experience light sensitivity and mild visual blurriness, which usually lasts 24 to 48 hours. The eyes will require special care for a period after PRESBYOND surgery. For example, patients should avoid water exposure to the eyes for one week, refrain from swimming, and avoid intense or contact sports during the recovery phase.
Surgeons at Batal Eye Specialty Center will prescribe eye drops to keep the eyes lubricated and to prevent infection and inflammation. A follow-up visit is scheduled one to two days after surgery to check on the initial recovery, followed by another visit two weeks later to confirm the success of the procedure.
We ensure that all necessary examinations are performed both before and after PRESBYOND vision correction surgery, and we take pride in having successfully treated hundreds of patients who have reported significant improvement in their vision during follow-up visits.

Benefits of PRESBYOND Vision Correction Surgery
PRESBYOND is a more advanced procedure than LASIK, which is why it delivers excellent long-term results. It is less invasive than traditional LASIK, as it is performed through a smaller corneal incision, making it a shallower procedure compared to other eye surgeries.
One of the key advantages of PRESBYOND is fast recovery. In most cases we have treated, patients reported achieving clear vision within 48 hours after the procedure. In fact, some patients have told us that they were able to read without glasses on the same day the surgery was performed.
A study published in The Lancet medical journal reported that in 2015, approximately 217 million people worldwide suffered from moderate to severe vision impairment, while 188 million people experienced mild vision impairment. The good news is that 90% of vision and refractive errors can be treated through regular follow-up with an ophthalmologist. The even better news is that vision correction procedures have advanced significantly, and today we are seeing modern techniques—most notably PRESBYOND, which is offered exclusively at Batal Specialized Medical Complex—achieving highly successful outcomes.

Symptoms of Vision Problems
Specialists at Batal Specialized Medical Complex recommend booking an appointment if you experience any of the following symptoms:
Blurred or unclear vision
Seeing black spots or sudden flashes of light
Sudden or recurring severe pain in or around the eye
Seeing halos around lights
Swelling or puffiness of the eyes
Severe sensitivity to light
Burning or irritation in the eyes
Excessive tearing without an obvious cause
Any sudden change in vision
Noticing white spots or areas on the eye
Difficulty reading or recognizing people’s faces
Difficulty focusing on objects or words

Complications of Vision Impairment
A significant number of people in Saudi Arabia, Europe, and Asia suffer from refractive errors such as astigmatism, nearsightedness (myopia), and farsightedness (hyperopia). Neglecting treatment may lead to serious complications, including lazy eye (amblyopia), progressive vision loss, or cataracts.
Early detection plays a crucial role in accurately diagnosing the causes of vision impairment, identifying symptoms of refractive errors, and selecting the most appropriate vision correction procedure for each individual case.

Stages and Steps of LASIK Surgery
Treatment for vision impairment depends on the underlying cause of your vision problems. Some conditions can be treated with prescription glasses or contact lenses, while other cases require surgical intervention or laser vision correction. At Batal Specialized Medical Complex, we use the latest technologies in vision correction and the treatment of refractive errors.
Our mission at Batal Specialized Medical Complex is to provide the highest level of care for patients undergoing PRESBYOND surgery. We achieve this by offering the most advanced and safest technologies in high-quality clinics that deliver comprehensive and safe eye care before and after surgery. Our goal is to set a benchmark of excellence in our field through a highly qualified team of ophthalmologists and eye surgeons, supported by a full range of cutting-edge laser technologies.
